The Art of Article Marketing for Business |
This week I was interviewed by the lovely and talented Bernadette Schwerdt from the Australian School of Copywriting about the "Article Marketing for Business" as part of her Conversations with Series of interviews.
I know many of my readers are also interested in Article Marketing, so I am giving you free access to the recording.
The interview has nearly an hour of detailed content on:
- What is article marketing
- Why it is great strategy to grow businesses
- The 5 features of a killer article
- What you can do with one single article - the options are amazing and endless!
- What is duplicate content and whether you should you be worried
Bernadette tapped my brain pretty hard and I shared information that I only usually share with my team of writers - so it is a pretty full on interview.
Here's what one of the listeners had to say:
I have just finished listening to the teleseminar you did with Bernadette (ASC) and I felt compelled to tell you how fantastic it was. As a new copywriter I have only just launched my website this week and found you to be both extremely generous with your knowledge but in addition to that you were truly motivating for me. I've heard of article marketing but wasn't truly aware of all the benefits and found it difficult to find relevant information about it when trying to do research on the topic.
Ros, Melbourne
As the recording was designed for the Australian School of Copywriting listeners - I put together a special free bonus just for them. But to make it fair - I am offering it to you as well.
Just go to the secret page on my website (Download no longer available) and enter your details and you will be taken to the download page where you can download the MP3 recording of the teleseminar (or play it on the page if you prefer).
You will also be able to download:
- 7 things I wish I had known before starting my copywriting business
- Duplicate content - the facts
- 7 Secrets of Compelling Copy and Powerful Words
- The Art, Energy and Science of Webwriting
Remember, there is nothing to buy & no hard sell - just an hour of pure content. Enjoy!

| HR Tip of the Week - Talk to Your Team |
If you have a team that is very mobile, scattered or who are shift workers, it can be hard to stay in touch with them all. Meetings can be a nightmare to coordinate and even with the best of planning you will still miss people.
How can you regularly share your thoughts with everyone in your team? The simplest way is to record your meeting, or even just your team address, convert it to an MP3 and then either send it out on CDs for your team to play in their work cars on their day to day rounds, or make it available as a download.
The technology is simpler and cheaper than you thought - how does free sound?
You can record yourself by using a computer headset plugged into your PC, or most mobile phones now have reasonable digital recorders built in. Use a program such as Audacity (free) to edit the sound and convert it to MP3 format and you are done.
Of course you can get better sound with purpose built microphones - but don't let lack of professional equipment stop you. You can also do what Bernadette did - use a bridge line to record our telephone conversation.
You now have no more excuses not to talk to your team!
| Business of the Week - Drinktracker |
We get to work with many amazing businesses and one of my favourites from last week is a Cairns company that has developed a pretty funky i-Phone application called Drinktracker.
If you have an i-Phone you know that the apps are what you really bought it for - making a phone call is only secondary. There's a lot of joke apps out there, but Drinktracker falls into the category of serious, practical and deadly useful.
What is Drinktracker? Well if you drink you know the danger of drink driving - but how do you know for sure that you are not over the limit? You can try and work out the rough maths of how many standard drinks you have drunk and the likely effect - but this doesn't take into account your body size, gender or weight.
You could try and find a breathalyser - but would you trust those cheap gadgets from a bottle shop, or chance one of the dirty machines on the wall of the pub?
That's where Drinktracker comes into it's own. Using the same scientific calculations that are behind the police breath test units, it tells your BAC - and is accurate to within 1 standard deviation for 90% of the population.
All you do is enter in your personal details, and then click what you drink with a simple one touch tap. It gives you a countdown timer on when you are going to be over the limit - so you can make conscious decisions about your drinking, and whether or not to get a cab.
There's a whole pile of funky features - you can add in your favourite drinks and serving sizes, and you can even turn off the app & have it continue in real time when you turn it back on (good if you want to check your levels the next morning after a big night).
It is one of the best applications I have seen. To me it is like having a personal blood pressure monitor - you can see what is happening with your body and take appropriate action.
When I had a chat with Greg Slapp (the developer) about the app, he has been overwhelmed by the positive response to Drinktracker. "I thought it would only be for people to work out when to call a cab - but what is happening is that people are actually changing their behaviour and rethinking their next drink because they can see that it will put them into the danger zone".
Greg & Drinktracker get my business of the week nod simply because they have created something with great potential to reduce road accidents and to increase people's understanding of the effects of alcohol on their own bodies.
Regularly checking your Google analytics is a great way to track the keywords people type in to reach your site. But if you go digging you will find that some pretty strange words point to you.
In this post I share the top 20 strange, wierd and bizarre keywords people have used to get to the Heart Harmony site.
