Sorry for not writing an issue last week - I was immersed in learning a stack of new technology and latest internet marketing and lost track of the days!
New Years Resolutions ... A Waste of Time?
This week I thought I would do something different after learning that even the Queen did her annual message on "You Tube". I mean if someone in their 70's can do it ... so can I. The gloves were off and the competition was on (literally!)
So, this week's article comes in the form of a short You Tube video from yours truly.
At the end of the video click here to go to my Small Business Ideas blog and list your resolutions (and learn about mine).
I look forward to hearing what you have planned for 2008!
Business Tip of the Week - How well do you know Your Customers?
How well do you know your customer? I mean REALLY know your customers?
One of my clients decided to ask his online customers for more information to get to know them better and was totally blown away by what he found.
Here we were thinking we were talking to 25+ men and women and we found that we were talking with teenage guys - average age 16-17 years. Well this totally changes how we will be marketing to them in the future! We will be adopting language, communication media, design and photos they relate to.
This lesson is true even if you do see your customers face to face. Is your marketing matching how your main customers communicate, the methods they use and the language they relate to? Do your pictures reflect who they are? If not ... you are losing customers. This month do a customer audit and learn from the results.
In my internet marketing course I learnt about a great website - Squidoo.com. I love it both as a site and as a business. Squidoo is a website where people and businesses can create an in-depth look (or lens) about an area of their expertise. It makes fascinating browsing and is the perfect place for small businesses to showcase their wares.
Some businesses like designer laptop bags use it as their shop front, others create lenses about their hobbies and passions (the chocolate fudge site is to die for) and others use it to showcase their knowledge.
Why is it a great business? It is flexible, they listen to the needs of the customers, they create a variety of optional extras and best of all they make it very easy to do business with them. What more can you ask for in a business? (Oh - it also makes a great site for market research and trend information as well!)
New Heart Harmony Websites
As part of my course I have created some sites you may be interested in.
Over the coming weeks I will be adding more - so watch this space (oh... and if you know what I am talking about, feel free to Digg, Stumble etc these sites for me if you value the content).
